Kirinda Temple

Kirinda Temple
Built by King Kavantissa, Kirinda Temple is perched atop a rocky hill, accessible via a stone staircase. It features a stupa, shrine room, and a large standing Buddha statue. Legend associates it with Princess Viharamahadevi, who arrived here after being set adrift. The temple also served as a refuge during the 2004 tsunami and holds significant historical and spiritual importance.

Available from Mayur Lodge Yala, 7.5 kilometres away.
